Donna welcomes visits to her studio in Cobble Hill, BC. Call 250-510-5053 to arrange a time.
Donna grew up in Oak Bay, Victoria and now resides in the warmlands of the Cowichan Valley nestled amongst farms and vineyards. She studied design at the Victoria College of Art, and community studies in charcoal, illustration and painting. Her process is experiential; she is a risk taker. The tension of working between the sentient and the tangible is celebrated as she plays with colourful acrylics and the tactile manner of sticky collage, fluidity of inks and chunky smudges of charcoal. Alternating between gruff firm marks and a soft and whimsical style, she delivers works that surprise, inspire and create wonderment as mysteries unfold. Occasionally she works in digital format - from painting to digitizing playfully then print, rip, glue and paint some more. Viewers often spy creatures and faces betwixt the textures. Current passions are travelling to art retreats to experience new cultures, meeting fellow artists and learning new techniques. She’s hooked!
Besides painting colourfully and selling art, she offers expressive process and intuitive art workshops at her own atelier - Kindness Tree Art Studio. Her training as a mental health nurse specializes her in garnering resiliency and catalizing self care.
Donna’s work is held by private collectors. She is a member of Cowichan Valley Arts Council and Gage Gallery Arts Collective in Oak Bay, Victoria, BC
