My painting, “On Native Land”, takes a fresh approach to the challenge of the theme, One Fifty Plus. I interfuse old European landscape composition with contemporary painting techniques, pouring paint of complimentary colours red and green on the right of the painting to suggest native art tradition merging into a totem pole. Trees symbolic of the English and French intertwine projecting shadows on the land. A parade of older white trees in the background proclaim a 150 years, an invitation to consider our impact on the land.
